Vivianite
Some of the world's best crystals of Vivianite, a hydrated iron phosphate, have come from mines in the Potosí Department, Bolivia. This large miniature, to small cabinet crystal spray, consisting of large, bladed, monoclinic Vivianite crystals with a small amount of orange-red mudrock matrix comes from the Tomokoni mine, Machacamarca District. The Vivianite crystals reach over 6.5 cm in length and several are really well-terminated, with sharp, undamaged edges, and a glassy to slightly resinous lustre. Their colour is a very dark green, but this becomes paler when backlit due to the translucent nature of Vivianite. A really fine example of large Vivianite crystals from a classic occurrence.
