A loose semi lustrous crystal of carrollite. In good condition. The Kamoya South II Mine, located in the Haut-Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of the famous Kambove mining district, began operations as a benched open-cut excavation in 1998. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the rich sediment-hosted Neoproterozoic Katanga Supergroup of the Central African Copperbelt, where complex hydrothermal and supergene processes affected local dolomitic shales and siltstones. Historically, the site gained a secretive reputation during its early 2001 operations due to strict security measures enforced to control high-value mineral recovery. Mineralogically, the mine became world-renowned among collectors for producing extraordinary, exceptionally large carrollite crystals with sharp metallic luster, alongside rich copper and cobalt mineral assemblages.
