A gem topaz crystal, 4.0 x 2.5 x 2 cm, sits perched perfectly in front of, below, and hosting, an elegant "soft" cluster of snow white cleavelandite that looks biological in its form. This is a strange association, in that the matrix is really on the gem crystal, as we would display it - not normally my preference in any other specimen. It just works, somehow, in a way that is hard to explain but is immediately obvious and impactful, in person. However, for this piece, the unique aesthetics of the combination make it different; and it stands out from so many other topaz specimens from here in a size and price class. A gorgeous small cabinet specimen from a small combination pocket, of 2023.
