This superb display sized baryte features four prominent parallel groupings of gorgeous, honey-amber, translucent to transparent crystals. It is shockingly beautiful for such a classic old baryte specimen! The three near vertical groups are arranged from tallest to smallest from right to left: 5, 4.5 and 2 cm, respectively. Each one is composed of at least two dominant crystals in tight side-by-side growth with other smaller, sidecar crystals in parallel or near parallel growth. There is another, 4 cm, very tight growth group of spear-point barytes suspended near the top of the two largest lying nearly horizontal that really adds to the balance and aesthetics of the piece. The big baryte crystals have sharp edges and terminations with exceptional luster, internal translucency and fantastic gemminess at the edges. This is one incredibly handsome and desirable piece from the well known German locality of Pöhla in Saxony! It is in excellent condition. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher #77143, from the German suite of the Pohl collection.
