As far as Brazilianite goes, this is a really fine individual crystal. It comes from Linópolis in the Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil which is where the Type Locality is situated. Small miniature in size this is an (almost) matrixless single, perfectly formed gemmy crystal. Almost complete all around, the crystal has just a small 'book' of Muscovite mica attached to its base and its crystal faces are extremely well-defined and free from damage. Its form, although monoclinic, is not nearly as bladed as some Brazilianite crystals, but is instead more equant, or blocky. It has a rich yellow-green colour typical of Brazilianite and its internal inclusions provide bright flashes, with its exterior crystal faces extremely glassy and gemmy. This is a an extremely high quality crystal of this rare sodium aluminium phosphate hydroxide gemstone.
