Scorodite
Scorodite is a very rare iron arsenate species and the number of places where fine crystals have been found can be counted on one hand. Clara mine in the Rankach Valley in the Black Forest region of Germany is one such place, but is also one of the earliest localities known, meaning that specimens are now rarely seen. However, as demonstrated here, when a good specimen turns up it is generally exceptional in quality. One thing that stands out with Clara Scorodite is its remarkable glassy lustre and intense electric blue colour, and to find a small cabinet-sized specimen worthy of display is almost never heard of. For this reason, this beauty comes with a custom-made Sunnywood display stand. Upon this piece the crystals, which are extremely well-formed, reach up to 8 mm in length and present not only the most intense blue colour, but colour zoning to reddish-brown too. These crystals are richly dispersed across a Quartz rich matrix.
