At 2.4 cm across, the main Scorodite crystal on this pure crystallized Scorodite specimen is absolutely enormous for the species. It is true that this is not the gemmy, vibrant electric- to smalt-blue form for which Tsumeb is so famed from its 1970s discovery, but is believed to be from a much rarer earlier find which produced very few, but exceptionally large opaque grey-blue pseudo-octahedral crystals. Accepting that this is not the gemmy form, the crystals are exceptional in their size, form and quality and at miniature size this remarkable Scorodite displays really well with no obvious damage. Ex Weyand Collection, this piece had remained in Tsumeb right up until it was acquired in 2025.
