Tucson, Arizona, USAThis very characteristic large miniature to small cabinet specimen of Barytocalcite is from the famous Admiralty Flats section underground in Nentsberry Haggs mine, near Alston in Cumbria. The intergrown crystals of Barytocalcite display the unique bladed (sharkfin) habit for which this mine is renowned and are all in perfect condition on a light brown altered limestone matrix. Measuring to 1.2 cm in length and with the typical white thin coating of Baryte, these Barytocalcite crystals are world-class in their quality. This locality is only a mile or so from the Type Locality at Blagill and yet the crystal form is very different. Collected in 1971 by the famous grouping of Anthony Walshaw. Mick Sutcliffe and Lindsay Greenback. Ex Werner Paar collection and ex Lindsay Greenbank collection (no. LG.276 - with original label).
