Rarely do pink topaz crystals gain such thickness, which lends strength to color saturation as well. A stunning hot-pink large miniature-sized topaz with lots of color saturation, hard to ignore when your eyes catch it on a shelf! Imperial topaz is one of the most sought-after topaz varieties, with colors ranging from tangerine yellow to crimson red, to the most elite colors of all imperials that hold reign: an electric, shocking, raspberry pink to pink-purple color. Specimens of this caliber, this color, and ON MATRIX?? Almost unheard of. Very, very few examples of pink topaz on matrix have made it to market for sale. This piece comes from Katlang, a locale that has continuously surprised us with the gem production over the years—and yet pink remains rarest of all. This crystal is complete but unusually terminated: it is simply contacted on top where the termination is formed, having grown against a matrix of a quartz edge or a feldspar, that gives it the flat, but natural, edge. This specimen shows off a crystal with huge size for what it is, combined with a brilliant luster, unmatched gemminess, and, most importantly, an undeniably attractive flamingo-pink color that intensifies to a pinkish-purple raspberry color. The topaz itself does have some peripheral damage and fracturing, mostly on the backside, but with a specimen of this caliber, rarity, and size, it does not take away from the specimen. It has one clean lateral repair in the middle, visible only under UV light. The topaz is also quite sizable and robust, measuring 4.3 cm across and 3.8 cm in length. This is a rare and limited opportunity to add a highly coveted, classic raspberry pink imperial topaz to your collection. From the collection of Paul Stahl of Mannheim, Germany.
