Lustrous green crystals of pyromorphite across the top of matrix. In good condition.The San Luis Mine, situated within the rugged Guazapares Mining District of western Chihuahua, Mexico, is part of the prolific Sierra Madre Occidental volcanic province. Geologically, the district is characterized by extensive mid-Cenozoic volcanic and intrusive rocks, where epithermal vein systems and fault-controlled structures formed during regional tectonic extension and major ignimbrite flare-ups. Mineralogically, the deposits are known for base and precious metal mineralization, gaining recent attention among collectors for producing exceptional specimens of secondary minerals such as vibrant pyromorphite crystals. Historically, mining in the Guazapares region dates back through generations of Mexican artisanal and small-scale operations, tapping into the rich silver, gold, and polymetallic veins that lace the remote canyons of the Sierra Madre.
