A significant specimen of Pharmacosiderite for both the richness of crystal coverage and the size of the specimen, from the classic locality of Wheal Gorland in Cornwall, England. This is an old classic from the early to mid 1800s, and so few have survived. Pharmacosiderite is a potassium-iron arsenate hydrate and arguably the best locality for the species come from Cornwall. Glistening translucent green, mounds of rounded crystal groups are abundantly distributed as a heavy druse on an ocherous Limonite matrix. The relatively uniform, 1 mm crystals are in rounded groups from 0.3 to 1 cm in diameter and are found mostly in the vuggy or protected and recessed areas of the Limonite matrix, with the top third of the piece being especially rich in Pharmacosiderite. Unlike most surviving specimens, this is a showy and hand-sized, display-quality piece, not just a reference example for drawers. Ex. Earl Calvert, Martin Ehrman, D'Agostino and Lawrence Conklin collections. Most recently, from the Dan McHugh collection of classics.
