Sharp emerald green crystals of brochantite to almost 1.5 cm in size forming a cluster with minor brecciated matrix. This is in super condition and excellent for the species. The Milpillas Mine, located in Sonora, Mexico, is a modern underground copper mine developed in the early 21st century to exploit a high grade deposit hosted in limestone. While primarily focused on copper production, the mine has become world famous among mineral collectors for its exceptional secondary minerals formed in the oxidized zones. In addition to its renowned azurite, Milpillas has produced outstanding specimens of brochantite, a copper sulfate mineral. The brochantite from this locality commonly occurs as deep green, elongated prismatic crystals and dense sprays that may cover matrix surfaces or line cavities. These specimens formed under arid conditions where copper rich solutions interacted with sulfate bearing waters, allowing for well developed crystal growth. Due to their rich color, sharp form, and association with other copper minerals, brochantite specimens from Milpillas are highly prized and considered among the finest examples of the species.
