The remote Seiland Island in Finnmark in the far north of arctic Norway is world renowned for its stunning gemmy and perfectly crystallized Zircon crystals most of which were collected during the 1970s if not earlier. Some of the crystals reach over 4 cm in length and combined with their magnificent colour and lustre it is not difficult to see why they are the world's best. This cabinet-sized matrix specimen from Seiland Island displays albeit smaller Zircon crystals, but they are still very bright and well-formed, reaching 8 mm in length. Perched on pale coloured matrix, as a tight cluster, they present the classic deep wine-red/brown colour, extremely bright resinous lustre and pyramidal terminations, with a perfect form from the front, but with some fractured surfaces on the rear. Now a National Park, collecting at Seiland Island is now banned and so what we see for sale are the limited numbers of specimens in older collections that periodically come available. Ex Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) Collection.
