When one thinks of Zircon from Norway the natural inclination is to the famous Seiland Island in the far north, but this sweet miniature piece is from the south of the country. From the region of Sandefjord, it features a 6 mm long, glossy clove-brown to orange-brown Zircon crystal terminated, complete, and undamaged on its exposed display faces sat alongside very dark coloured, almost black, Ferro-edenite and pale grey Larvik-like feldspar. Another larger, but fractured Zircon crystal, is present on the back of the specimen as a broken surface. Although only provenanced to the region of Sandefjord, Zircons from there are rarely seen and an expert on this area may well be able to fine-tune this to a specific quarry or outcrop. It is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) and comes with an older Hans-Peter Karch label that uses the name Barkevikit for the hornblende.
