Siegenite is a rare cobalt nickel sulfide mineral with the formula (Ni,Co)3S4, first described in 1850 from the Stahlberg Mine at Musen near Siegen, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. It was named after the Siegen district, its type locality. The mineral occurs in hydrothermal sulfide veins associated with nickel, cobalt, and iron ores and typically forms metallic gray isometric crystals. This is a superb richly crystallized example for the species with bright metallic siegenite crystals across the top of matrix with galena and a spray of golden millerite crystals. In great condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century if not the 19th century.
