This pale purple well-formed cubic Fluorite crystal, measuring 3.8 x 3 x 3 cm, comes from Hollywell mine which is one of the less well known occurrences in Weardale. Remarkably, the mine is situated in Rogerley Quarry, but at the opposite end to where the Rogerley and Diana Maria mines are developed. As the name suggests it worked the Hollywell Vein but specimens are rarely seen available. This nicely displayable miniature specimen is in good overall condition with only the very slightest of wear to the edges of the main crystal, but the crystal is naturally slightly etched with internal frosting and a medium lustre to its surfaces. The crystal sits upon a rather strange radial, flower-like form, of cream coloured Fluorite. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection (no. P1923) and ex Martin Gruell Fluorite Collection (with label).
