Fine cluster of deep purple opaque cubic fluorite crystals, the largest 6.0 cm on edge. Very little attached matrix. Micro-cleaving present but sparse, this is in very good condition and quite choice for this classic Mexican locality. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. The Tule Mine near Melchor Muzquiz in Coahuila, Mexico, is part of a remote desert region dotted with numerous small workings hosted within sedimentary strata. Geologically, the area is famous for significant evaporite-associated and hydrothermal mineral deposits, yielding world-class mineral specimens. Mining in this district has historically targeted industrial minerals and commercial deposits, but the site has gained global fame among mineral collectors for producing exceptional specimens of deep lilac to purple fluorite crystals often associated with celestine and other matrix minerals.
