Green gemmy octahedral crystals of fluorite to 4.0 cm in size in a cluster with little attached matrix. In great condition.
Chenzhou, located in southeastern Hunan Province, China, encompasses major mineral districts like Yaogangxian and Xianghualing where industrial and specimen mining scaled up significantly during the 20th century (with key deposits like Yaogangxian active since formal discovery in 1914 and expanding through modern mechanized operations). Geologically, the region is defined by complex Paleozoic carbonate and sedimentary strata intruded by Yanshanian granitic plutons, which drove extensive hydrothermal activity. This metallogenic environment produced rich polymetallic veins and skarn systems where fluorite (calcium fluoride, CaF2) crystallizes alongside quartz, calcite, and various ore minerals, yielding world-class crystal specimens.
