Pindale is a small narrow upland valley above the village of Castleton in the Derbyshire Dales. Although there is an old lead mine in the area it is most likely that this mineral specimen came from the now disused small Pindale Quarry which sits alongside the much larger Hope Quarry immediately to the south. This miniature-size specimen comes from Arvid Pasto's famous worldwide Fluorite collection and features six purple cubic Fluorite crystals clustered in two groups of three along one side of the specimen. Many other much smaller cubic crystals are scattered about the surface of the Baryte matrix. All of the Fluorite crystals display colour zonation, with a darker purple line marking the edges of the cubes and paler interiors. This is a nice example of this classic form of Fluorite for which Derbyshire is noted.
