Hydroxylapatite on Hornblende
Considered to be one of the all-time classic minerals from Norway, these superb large bright white pyramidally terminated hexagonal Hydroxylapatite crystals associated with long bladed Hornblende crystals have been found at several sites in the Snarum area, Modum, Buskerud over more than a hundred years. This stunning large, display quality specimen is certainly one of the most aesthetic I have seen available. The Hydroxylapatite crystals are extremely bright and reach an impressive 5.5 cm in length, but most of all they are extremely shapely. Not only that, but they contrast wonderfully with the dark coloured bladed Hornblende crystal underneath. An old collection number affixed to the back of the specimen has the appearance of being at least 40 years old, but in reality this specimen is probably much older. A superb Norwegian classic.
