We love Tsumeb minerals, it is true; but not all Tsumeb minerals are dominating on the worldwide market compared to other localities. For cerussite, unlike perhaps azurite, Tsumeb reigns as king! This massive, dramatic and particularly large cerussite is a truly imposing example of the large reticulated crystals that came out in the 1970s. This complex twinning, dramatic geometry, and sheer size have ONLY come from Tsumeb. When you look at this thing, for the size and overall quality, in nearly pristine condition, and you realize that something this exposed and delicate had to survive not only tens of millions of years in the ground but also the "care" of handling by humans to get it out; and then further that it survived for probably 50 years once taken out of the mine, it really is a miracle. The piece is complete all around, 360 degrees, with no damage of note and no repairs (both unusual for this style and size of Tsumeb cerussite). It is truly a museum piece, or a centerpiece for any mineral collection that values geometry and quality in (near) largest-of-species representations. The pics and video convey its impact somewhat, but it is much more imposing in person due to its 3-dimensionality and heft (760 grams, nearly 1.7 pounds). This piece was a standout in an old collection we obtained.
