Cuprite var. Chalcotrichite$450.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This rich miniature Chalcotrichite - the acicular to matted filament type of Cuprite - is from a rarely heard of Cornish locality - Owen Vean mine, near Goldsithney. Much of the specimen is coated in bright velvety red Chalcotrichite as finely crystalline matted aggregates. The quality of the Chalcotrichite does not compare with that from the better known Fowey Consols, but is quite distinctive. Owen Vean mine was a small mining sett during the mid-1800s, merging with Tregurtha Downs in 1883 under the name Wheal Union. This merger was unsuccessful, with multiple attempts by several companies all ending in failure. Ex Mike Brooke collection and prior to that ex Trevor Bridges.
