A superb pair of twinned Diaspore crystals from the classic locality in Selçuk District, Izmir Province, Turkey. The crystals measure 6.5 and 6.0 cm tall, emanating from a common base to form a ‘V’-twin of reasonably balanced symmetry, the taller crystal being 3.5 cm wide and the smaller, 3 cm. The Diaspore varies from transparent to translucent, the majority being gooseberry green with a silver shimmer tending to light lime green in transmitted light. A roughly 3 x 2 cm zone of the smaller Diaspore crystal is barley sugar orange. All surfaces are brightly reflective with almost a metallic lustre and some areas display contoured pools of iridescent, interference rainbow colours. Both Diaspore crystals are well terminated, although please note, the larger crystal has a 6 mm bruise at one edge of the termination. A most aesthetic small cabinet specimen of excellent Diaspore crystals from Turkey.
