Fluorite with Dolomite (illustrated)$2,450.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
An old classic Fluorite from Germany with great color and luster. It is also a classic Fluorite discovery from the 1960s which we do not see much of on the market today. This dominantly yellow piece is beautifully transparent to translucent (toward the cores) Fluorites with subtle, 0.5 mm parallel zones near the rims defined by dark inclusions. The crystals average about 4 cm across with faces of 1 to 1.4 cm in size as geometric stepped growths. The entire piece is super lustrous and is lightly sprinkled with 1.5 mm cream colored Dolomite crystals. The whole the piece is gemmy and lustrous with the intergrown golden Fluorite cubes creating a very dramatic cabinet-sized display surface that is virtually pristine. The piece also exhibits a good bluish-purple fluorescence. It is from the Kay Robertson collection and she was a legendary and prominent California collector who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record or blogs on our website). She particularly specialized in German classics. This is prominently illustrated in the 2017 magazine issue on Kay: a 64-page article on Kay in Mineralien Welt (6-2017) and featured in the book Collecting Classics: The Legacy of Kay Robertson (Mineralogical Record, May 2025) on page 26.
