Bismuthinite with Cassiterite and Chalcopyrite
Unknown Owner
A richly adorned large miniature of acicular metallic grey Bismuthinite crystals lining numerous cavities in a mixed Chalcopyrite-Quartz-Chlorite matrix. Adding interest to the specimen are later depositions of balls and botryoidal zoned brown Cassiterite of the variety Wood Tin together with very dark green Chlorite developed over the Bismuthinite crystals. This is a fine specimen from the Fowey Consols mine at Tywardreath, Cornwall and a rare and most attractive combination. This specimen is accompanied by a Roughgems (Charterhouse Street, London) stock label, but is undoubtedly very old.
