Magnetite in ASBESTOS$2,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
An amazing and superb, cuboctahedral Magnetite measuring 2.3 cm across sits partly embedded in a matrix of micro-crystalline buttermilk Asbestos of the variety Mountain Leather. This is an excellent example and so characteristic of specimens from Totenkopf, by the Lower Riffl glacier in the Stubach valley in Austria. The Magnetite crystal is lead-grey with a finely-speckled texture and dull, slightly silky lustre and exhibits sharp edges and perfectly developed faces. The lower half of this crystal is embedded in the matrix and a smaller Magnetite crystal is attached to one side of the larger. The Mountain Leather is composed of layered fibres and platelets forming gently curved foliated mounds and crevices with the appearance of clotted cream. Please note that this Asbestos specimen is perfect for display in a cabinet but should be handled with respect and safety in mind.
