Boleite with PARATACAMITE and Gypsum
Boleite is a fascinating and beautiful mineral species and although rare, when you get a good specimen it is simply wonderful. As a complex compound containing potassium, lead, silver, copper, chlorine, oxygen and hydrogen it is no wonder that it is rare, but its colourful cubic crystal form is a joy to behold. This extremely rich large miniature specimen forms a fairly flat plate of white crystalline Gypsum upon which a 3.5 x 2.5 cm area is richly invested with deep inky-blue cubic crystals of Boleite. The largest crystals measure 5 mm on edge and all present a brilliant and highly reflective lustre and very sharp, crisp edges. There is no doubt that this is a top-class Boleite specimen and it comes from its most famous locality - Amelia mine at Santa Rosalía, in the Boleo District of Baja California, Mexico. Ex Professor Werner Paar Collection.
