A perfectly terminated jet-black Neptunite crystal measuring 1.8 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm, partly embedded in a small block of snow-white massive Natrolite. From the famous Benitoite Gem mine at Santa Rita Peak, San Benito County, California, USA; this mine is also known as the California State Gem Mine and Dallas Gem Mine. The Neptunite crystal has highly lustrous mirror-smooth faces with one face containing a bright metallic blood-red patch when lit well. An attractive small thumbnail of Neptunite.
The sharp shiny crystal - Neptunite - is rare and popular with collectors and so most specimens on the market are quite expensive. This is hard to find small example with a very large crystal compared to its base and so a fantastic find.
