Felted aggregates of bright red Cuprite - the variety Chalcotrichite - coat and sit within cavities in a miniature-sized porous box-work type Goethite-Quartz gossan from Wheal Phoenix, Linkinhorne, Liskeard District, Cornwall. Although the matrix is similar to that seen in the classic old-time specimens from Fowey Consols the habit of the Chalcotrichite - as velvety layers rather than well-defined capillary crystals - is quite different.
