This very rich small cabinet-sized crystallized Cinnabar on Quartz matrix comes from a deposit - Nikitovka Hg Deposit - which is now sadly in the middle of a war zone in Central Donbass, Ukraine. Clearly an older specimen, the Cinnabar is very well crystallized, as abundant deep ruby red crystals with a superb glossy lustre, intergrown across nearly half of the display face. Cinnabar is a mineral for which you should always wash your hands after handling. Mercury is a toxic metal, but handed with respect and common sense, presents no risk. An excellent and rich specimen of well-crystallized Cinnabar from the Ukraine.
