Widely regarded as having produced the finest Cassiterite crystals ever seen, the Pingwu beryl mine at Huya township, Mount Little Xuebaoding, Pingwu County, Mianyang, Sichuan, China has certainly provided the best specimens of Cassiterite in China, and on the basis of this superb cabinet-sized display plate one can see why, with magnificent twinned crystals presenting an exceptionally glossy lustre, combining perfectly with the contrasting pale creamy-white rosetted platy Muscovite mica matrix. The individual Cassiterite crystals reach over 2 cm in size which is certainly not the largest known, but they are all in excellent condition and display marvelously well. Labelled as from Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu County, the first fine Cassiterite specimens to reach the mineral collecting world came out of China in about 1998, but within ten years the mine had ceased and it was only much later on that the more precise locality details were revealed. A stunning larger display specimen of Chinese Cassiterite, the like of which are now very hard to obtain.
