Highly lustrous, gemmy, pale cream coloured thick tabular to bladed Baryte crystals encrust a Sphalerite-Galena-Chalcopyrite-Pyrite matrix from Rosh Pinah in Nambia. Two mines exist in the area: Rosh Pinah mine which opened in the later 1960s and Skorpion mine which commenced in 2001. Gemmy cream to amber coloured Baryte crystal specimens were found at the Rosh Pinah mine in the 1970s and 1980s and as this piece is from an older German collection so that is the most likely source period. Usually, Rosh Pinah Baryte crystals are very thin, but rarely they occur as wider wedge-shaped tabular crystals likes those seen on this fine specimen. There is slight contact damage to the larger crystal group at the top of the specimen but the crystals are intact and all of the other crystals on the display surface are in excellent condition and some with exceptional transparency. The largest crystal reaches 2 cm in length, with most between 0.5 to 1.5 cm.
