A classic example of what are sometimes called a pyrite bar, this collected in the early to mid 1970s. In good condition. This is naturally crystallized all around. The Buick Mine, located within the Viburnum Trend of Iron County in southeastern Missouri, is a major underground operation focused on lead and zinc ore deposits hosted in solution-collapse breccias within dolostone. Following its opening in the late 1960s, the mine gained legendary status among mineral collectors when a pocket was discovered in the early to mid 1970s producing unique, elongated, lustrous specimens famously known as "pyrite bars," some of which feature central hollows revealing a stalactitic origin.
