An attractive grouping of lustrous slightly translucent yellow green grossular crystals. This is complete all around with no points of attachment and in excellent condition. Very sharply formed. The largest prominent crystal measures 4.0 cm across.Located in the Kayes Region of western Mali, the Koukouri area within the Bafoulabe Cercle features complex Precambrian igneous and metamorphic geology that is particularly well-known for producing well-crystallized secondary mineral specimens. Discovered during regional geological surveys and mineral exploration, the site gained significant fame among collectors for high-quality epidote and garnets embedded in skarn and altered host rocks. Active surface mining and artisanal collection efforts have made Koukouri a classic African locality, providing worldwide collectors with notable display-grade mineral specimens.
