A cluster of stalactitic golden stalactitic marcasite, this with crystallized quartz and lustrous galena. The stalactites are not complete on top. Interesting small specimen from the 1970s. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. The Magmont Mine, located in the Viburnum Trend of Iron County, Missouri, is situated within carbonate rocks of the Cambrian Bonneterre Formation, where hydrothermal fluids deposited major concentrations of lead, zinc, and copper sulfides along ancient reef trends. Developed as a joint venture between American Metal Climax and Cominco American, the underground mine began operations in the late 1960s utilizing modern trackless room and pillar extraction methods, eventually becoming a notable producer in the district before winding down its primary production in the early 1990's.
