This exceptionally complex spessartine garnet crystal is a gorgeous, gem-quality specimen of bright, sparkling garnet from the famous circa-2000 finds at the well-known Navegadora claim in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Garnets from Brazil are loved and prized amongst collectors and fanatics for the architectural, three-dimensional display they put on, resembling something that came out of a Transformers movie, with their unique selective dissolution pattern visible on the crystal faces. Because of this process of dissolution, many larger crystals get distorted and lose shape or luster, but this one remains highly structural, sharp, and lustrous. This large crystal shows both geometry AND the highly coveted patterning. The garnet's body tone is a rich, deep fiery crimson red, showcasing the classic, top-tier spessartine color. The specimen is translucent when it catches light internally, glowing like a hot ember deep within. With a garnet of this size, this piece is in remarkably good condition with very little damage; it has some minor peripheral wear to the edges only, but with a spessartine of this quality and size, it is in great shape considering how they were collected and mostly thrown in big gem bags at the time. This would be a fantastic addition to any collection of gem crystals. Because of the size and elongated vertical style, it is more transparent than most large examples from these finds.
