Owner’s note

Acquired from Ross Lillie. Ross Lillie Commentary ... Group of richly zoned purple and blue fluorite with light dusting of chalcopyrite. Trivial edge rubs. Advance mining circa 1982 in the great producing days of the Denton Mine. Holzner Collection #376. I like to have a good provenance trail. It’s important for a lot of reasons but mainly the closer one can track down to the original owner the closer one can date the mining timeframe. Once one know the timeframe you can compare with mines that were active at that time and with luck assign a location that is reasonably accurate. It’s a shame but so many of the best specimens in Cave-in-Rock came out in the 1930s-1960s and most if not nearly all of them simply said ‘Hardin County’. Too broad in my estimation.
