Baryte from Clara Mine, Oberwolfach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany - image 1

Baryte from Clara Mine, Oberwolfach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

A fascinating specimen showing a very sharp contrast between two subsequent generations of baryte. It has a core of yellow 'Honigspat' (honey spar) baryte in the middle, followed by parallel growth of lustrous, mostly colourless baryte with some dark goethite or manganese oxide inclusions. The contrast between the different generations makes for a very pleasing geometric pattern.
