Baryte from Clara Mine, Oberwolfach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Stacked tabular baryte crystals, blueish-grey in colour with selective reddish-brown inclusions adding some nice colour. This habit is typical for a find made back in 2012, one that is quite distinct from most previous styles of baryte from Grube Clara. Most specimens had slightly smaller crystals, more elongated rather than tabular as in this example, and intergrown with the quartz matrix in quite a disorganised fashion. It appears only relatively few specimens were as well-developed and aesthetic as this piece.
