Lustrous botryoidal black goethite covering matrix. Some stalactitic formation is present. Neat locality example for the species, this is in terrific condition. The Kremikovtsi deposit, located near Sofia in Bulgaria, is a globally renowned sedimentary exhalative ore occurrence hosted primarily within Middle Triassic carbonate sequences. Geologically, it features complex stratiform and lenticular iron and manganese formations alongside massive barite orebodies and localized sulfide zones. The mineralogy is exceptionally diverse, celebrated by collectors for producing high-quality specimens of barite, hematite, goethite, malachite, and rare minerals such as norsethite and segnitite. Historically, large-scale industrial extraction began in the mid-20th century to supply the region's heavy metallurgical manufacturing, turning the site into a major pillar of local industrial history before mining operations ceased.
