Neat locality example for the species, black crystallized schorl across the top of matrix.Vladaya is a historic village located in the Vitosha Mountain region within the Sofia City province of Bulgaria, historically linked to early local mining, stone quarrying, and forestry. Geologically, Vitosha is a massive Late Cretaceous pluton and extinct volcanic structure dominated by syenite and monzonite intrusions, famous for its periglacial stone rivers and complex contact metamorphic zones. Within these intrusive and pegmatitic environments, accessory minerals such as schorl, the common black, opaque, sodium-iron-rich tourmaline species characterized by its prismatic habit and deep striations, can be found crystallized in association with quartz and feldspars.
