Brilliant smooth lustrous botryoidal goethite on matrix with calcite. These are forming replacements after now gone crystals of gypsum. Very minimal damage present.Santa Eulalia, located just east of Chihuahua City in Mexico, is one of the oldest and most prolific mining districts in the country, with historical silver and lead mining operations beginning as early as 1528 and officially settling around 1652. Geologically, the district is hosted within a thick sequence of Cretaceous limestone units that have been intruded by Tertiary igneous dikes and sills, creating favorable structural conduits for mineralization. Mineralogically, it is world-renowned for its massive carbonate replacement (skarn and mantos) ore bodies, which have yielded spectacular, highly prized crystal specimens of native silver, fluorite, anglesite, cerussite, and various lead, zinc, and copper sulfides. While large-scale modern corporate mining has largely concluded, selective historical extraction and mineral collecting have preserved its legacy as a premier global mineral locality.
