It is rare nowadays to get really intensely red 'ruby silver', the like of Proustite or Pyrargyrite due to their tendency to darker over time with exposure to daylight. This is what makes this thumbnail sized cluster of German Proustite crystals so special. There is age-related wear to the edges of the crystals, but they have excellent overall shape, an exquisite greasy lustre and sit nicely upon a sliver of white Dolomite matrix. The individual Proustite crystals reach 5 mm across, but look much larger due to their clustering together. Claimed to be from the Black Forest area.
