Deep claret-red crystals of the silver sulphosalt Proustite richly adorn a 7 x 5 cm surface of a massive and part-crystallised tan Dolomite matrix. This very fine specimen is from J'chymov in the Kru'n' Hory Mountains of Bohemia in the Czech Republic; Kru'n' Hory translates to 'Ore Mountains'. The Proustite forms semi-translucent, perfectly developed prismatic crystals up to 2 mm in length of which there are probably 100 intermixed with similar sized crystals of brassy-golden Pyrite. A terrific example.
