A spectacular specimen of the calcium-copper sulphate, Devilline, from Špania Dolina in Banská Bystrica County, Slovakia. Vertically aligned plates form domed rosettes of strong bluish-green Devilline, typically to 0.6 cm across, which form joined clusters and individual sprays. The Devilline coats the sides of a heterogeneous creamy-tan matrix in the form of powdery, semi-crystalline and botryoidal turquoise druses, over which are scattered the large clusters as described. The old German name for Špania Dolina is Herrengrund and this name is written discretely on the specimen. Devilline was formerly named Herrengrundite and this is the name used on the oldest of the accompanying labels, from Ede Temak (1845-1915), the later labels include those from Herbert Obodda and Professor Werner Paar's collections. An outstanding Devilline specimen from the classic locality and with magnificent pedigree.
