Devilline
This calcium-copper sulphate is one of those minerals that is probably a lot more common than we think, but just so easily confused with other minerals in its group. Two things are certain; firstly, that this actually is a Devilline and secondly that the Špania Dolina deposit in Slovakia has produced the finest examples of this mineral. The whole region is riddled with small copper mines that work the hydrothermal deposits. This little deeply saturated group of deep green-inky blue sheaves of Devilline is a wonderful miniature of this rather common mineral, but rare for the size. Worldwide Devilline is quite common, but you will need a stereomicroscope to study them, while Špania Dolina provides us with these magnificent display specimens.
