Tanzanite is a pretty well known and sought after mineral that heirs from the zoisite family. Known for its beautiful color and pleochroism, tanzanite it usually heated when faceted for jewelry. This piece is unheated/untreated. I picked this piece up at Tucson many years ago for an extremely fair price and has been in my collection ever since. I really enjoy the clarity, shape, and inclusions with this specimen... not to mention the breathtaking color!
