Barite, 10.8 cm, from the Book Cliffs area, Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado. Collected in April 2002. This specimen was part of the American Mineral Treasures exhibit at the 2008 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. It is much more three-dimensional than usual for this locality. The specimen was found after a day and a half of fruitless digging in the concretion illustrated below.
