Diopside, 2.8 cm, from the Samax mine, Merelani Hills, Umba Valley, Lelatema Mountains, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania. Ex Daniel Trinchillo (who wrote “This is among the finest 5 pieces found at the mine”); ex Jim Houran. It was part of the 2010 Desautels Award winning exhibit, and the special exhibit of “Connoisseur Thumbnails” at the 2013 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.
