Composed of two of the legendary Tsumeb Mine's signature species, dioptase and calcite specimens are some of the most beautiful and sought-after pieces from there. On this thumbnail we have a gorgeous, single, 9 mm crystal set on a matrix of finely-crystalline white calcite. The calcite also fluoresces orange, as we would hope. The dioptase is exceptionally gemmy and lustrous. Internally, there is some crazing through the middle of the crystal that produces a girdle of classic green fire that is bright and highly aesthetic. This is wonderful and aesthetic piece whose simplicity adds to its appeal.
